The Kennedy Bariatric Surgery Program—a nationally accredited bariatric program

Kennedy University Hospital in Stratford has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center by the national Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) This designation means that Kennedy – Stratford’s Surgical Weight Loss  Program has met the essential criteria that ensures it is fully capable of supporting a bariatric surgery care program, and that its institutional performance meets the requirements outlined by this prestigious, national Accreditation Program. Level 1 designation is the highest achievable level for accreditation.

What this accreditation means for our patients

MBSAQIP accreditation is awarded to bariatric surgery centers that demonstrate a commitment to providing the highest quality care. Accredited centers must provide the resources and support necessary to address the entire spectrum of care and needs of bariatric patients.

The accreditation process
To earn accreditation, Kennedy-Stratford underwent a voluntary evaluation conducted by an independent team of experienced bariatric surgeons.
The team worked to ensure that our hospital meets the rigorous, nationally recognized standards outlined by the MBSAQIP for:

  • Safety of the bariatric surgery patient
  • Documented, quality surgical outcomes
  • Standards of practice
  • Highly trained and experienced medical professionals.
  • Specially designed facilities to accommodate obese patients and their families
  • Comprehensive medical, nutritional, and psychological support throughout the treatment process
