Kennedy University Hospital in Stratford has received Level 1-accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This designation means that Kennedy – Stratford’s Surgical Weight Loss Program has met the essential criteria that ensures it is fully capable of supporting a bariatric surgery care program, and that its institutional performance meets the requirements outlined by this prestigious, national Accreditation Program. Level 1 designation is the highest achievable level for accreditation.

MBSAQIP accreditation is awarded to bariatric surgery centers that demonstrate a commitment to providing the highest quality care. Accredited centers must provide the resources and support necessary to address the entire spectrum of care and needs of bariatric patients.
The accreditation process
To earn accreditation, Kennedy-Stratford underwent a voluntary evaluation conducted by an independent team of experienced bariatric surgeons.
